County Offers Post Office Free Rent

BridgeMill gets a lawn maintenance contract.

The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners moved to resolve two ongoing Canton-Sixes issues Tuesday, approving a lawn maintenance agreement in the Sixes Road area and offering free rent to the Postal Service to stay downtown.

The county’s new maintenance agreement with Tri Scapes will cost the BridgeMill community $19,200 and will begin immediately. The contract comes after a 17-month debate on and relied on the involvement of Commissioner Karen Bosch.

“I know it has been an ordeal, but I think it’s a good public-private partnership,” Bosch said of the agreement between the county and Tri Scapes.

Meanwhile, the county is trying to prevent Canton’s from closing by reducing its costs as much as possible. The county will offer the Postal Service free rent to reverse and stay; the Postal Service’s only cost would be utilities.
