Cherokee Aquatic Center Named Most Outstanding Facility

The aquatic center, along with the Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency, were both recognized by the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.

The popular Cherokee County Aquatic Center was recently recognized by experts in the parks and recreation arena across the state.

The facility, run by Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency, was named the Most Outstanding New or Renovated Facility at theGeorgia Recreation & Parks Association's annual Conference on Recreation and Parks. 

In October, CRPA was also given the Class A Agency of the Year Award for the GRPA 5th District, which includes all county and city recreation and parks agencies north and west of Fulton County. The Class A distinction is reserved for the largest agencies in the district.

The award commends CRPA for its work in the past year on upgrading and enhancing its facilities. 

Agency Director Bryan Reynolds noted the agency had several highlights in the preceding year, including the opening of the aquatic center, the expansion and improvements to the Blanket Creek Mountain Bike Trails, "outstanding" youth athletic programs like Cherokee Youth Basketball and special events like the Guns & Hoses 5k and Touch-A-Truck programs.
