Canton To Vote on Bluffs Speed Limit Change

A proposal is on the table to increase the speed limit on Bluffs Parkway from 35 to 45 miles per hour.

The Canton City Council is set to vote on a proposal to change the speed limit on one of its streets.

The council tonight during its meeting will consider increasing the speed limit on Bluffs Parkway from 35 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour.

The council meets tonight at 6:05 p.m. at Canton City Hall.

The original request came from Cherokee County Commission Chair Buzz Ahrens, who said he'd received comments from residents who, while making a trip to do business with county government agencies, stated they feared getting a ticket due to the road's steep descents.

Bluffs Parkway is used to access the Cherokee County Administration Building, Northside Hospital-Cherokee Conference Center and Chattahoochee Technical College's Canton campus.

Council members will also consider an agreement with the G. Cecel Pruett YMCA that would allow the agency to "facilitate agreements and permits" with organizations seeking to use the city's recreation facilities and fields.

See the attached .PDF to view what else is on tonight's agenda. We will host a live stream of tonight's meeting for those who will not be in attendance.
