Canton To Take Action on New Fire Station, Expense Oversight

The council is expected to move forward on developing a process to oversee expenses related to the mayor and council, city manager and city clerk positions.

The Canton City Council tonight is expected to consider moving forward on a new fire station and developing a process to oversee city expenses.

The council will consider approving these and other items during its meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at Canton City Hall.

Both issues were discussed during the council's April 3 meeting. The mayor established a committee made up of council members Bill Grant, Hooky Huffman and John Rust to develop a process for overseeing expenditures related to the mayor and council, city manager and city clerk positions.

The new fire station would be located in the northwest corner of the city. Interim City Manager Glen Cummins would be in charge of working with Fire Chief Dean Floyd to find a suitable site for the third fire station.
