Canton To Manage Dog Park?

Chrissie Gibson is asking the city to take over management of Canton Paw Park located on Juniper Street.

The Canton City Council will discuss whether it would — or could — take over managing Canton Paw Park during its meeting tonight.

The meeting will get underway at 6 p.m. April 3 at Canton City Hall.

Chrissie Gibson, president of the park, is asking the city if it could take over managing the park, which sits along Juniper Street. Gibson said the main expense the city would be to maintain its liability insurance, which she said costs around $850 a year for a $2 million policy.

Council members will also discuss Bluffs property common area fees, possibly using financial advisors, purchasing a right-of-way tractor mower, a request from The Painted Pig Tavern to allow tables, chairs and umbrellas on the sidewalk in front of its establishment, a portable stage policy and the downtown parking study.
