Canton Celebrates Arbor Day Feb. 21

Canton residents can pick up a free tree from the Tree City USA members on Friday.

Join Canton leaders Friday in celebrating Arbor Day by planting a tree,

The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Friday, Feb. 21, at the gazebo in Cannon Park in downtown Canton, according to the city's website

Tree City members invite residents to come by and receive free saplings of Bald Cypress, Redbud, Crabapple, Common Pear, and Pecan trees.

National Arbor Day is the last Friday in April, says the Arbor Day Foundation, but many states observe Arbor Day on different dates according to their best tree-planting times. In Georgia, Arbor Day is celebrated statewide on the third Friday in February each year.
