4. A controversial recycling facility has declared bankruptcy , according to the Cherokee Tribune and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution . Since April, residents have spoken in opposition against a move by the county in February to transfer $1.8 million out of Special Purpose Local Option Sales funds into the county’s general fund after Cherokee Recycling owner Jimmy Bobo failed to make payments owed on $18 million in bonds the county had guaranteed.
