500 Weather Radios Available In February For Cherokee Residents

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office Division of Emergency Management will soon have 500 weather radios availble to the public for free.

Cherokee County residents will soon have an opportunity to get a free weather radio.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office Division of Emergency Management will have 500 NOAA All Hazard Weather Radio available to the public during the week of Feb. 4-8 to coincide with Severe Weather Awareness Week in Georgia. 

The agency received the radios through a hazard mitigation grant from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.

Each radio will be programmed to receive weather warnings for Cherokee County and will be equipped with batteries.

The radios will be available in the lobby of the Cherokee County Public Safety Building at 150 Chattin Drive in Canton between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., or while supplies last.
