According to the FDA, Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms are generally short-term and include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infections can also cause miscarriages or stillbirth in pregnant women.

The FDA says Flying Foods has suspended the production of all products at the Lawrenceville facility pending a full investigation into the source of the problem.
