A woman stole a paramedic’s jacket, claimed to be a nurse and offered assistance at an ambulance wreck Saturday in northeast Georgia, according to a report.
She told Oconee County deputies she was a hospital trauma nurse. They didn’t believe her story.
Emergency crew workers said she was in the way as they were extricating a victim.
The Cleveland, Ga. woman, 43, could face criminal charges, the Athens Banner-Herald reported. She was not immediately identified.
Citing an Oconee County Sheriff’s report, the newspaper reported the woman stopped at the scene in Bishop, Ga., and allegedly stole a yellow jacket with “Grady EMS” on the back before telling a deputy she wanted to help. Later, a Grady paramedic told deputies the jacket was his.
The woman’s nursing credentials are being investigated, which could lead to charges. She also could be charged with entering auto for taking the jacket if the paramedic wants to prosecute.
