Tim Cavender, spokesman for County Fire and Emergency Services, said when first responders arrived onto the scene, the woman had already been pulled from the lake by family or friends and they'd already started CPR on her.

He said the area was "difficult" to get into due to the gate being locked and a vehicle blocking the entrance point.

"We sent our boat to the scene in order to get her to an ambulance," he added.

Cherokee Sheriff's Office Spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said the woman was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in serious condition.

Cavender added that as of Tuesday afternoon, the woman was still alive at the Marietta hospital.
