Update: Murder Suspect's Extradition Set for Feb. 22

A Canton woman's boyfriend shot her in Dallas, dragged her body into a bathtub, then drove to DeKalb County and confessed to his estranged wife.

Michael Paul Lucking will be transferred from DeKalb County to Dallas on Feb. 22 to face charges in connection with , an official said Tuesday.

"They will fly out on Monday and bring (Lucking) back (to Dallas) on Tuesday," Dallas County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Leach said in an e-mail to Canton-Sixes Patch.

Melissa Ann Affatato, 26, was shot in the head during an argument with Lucking, who dragged the woman's dying body into a bathtub, according to a report in The Dallas Morning News.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported late Saturday that Affatato previously lived in Canton.

She and Lucking met a few months ago at an Atlanta strip club where Affatato worked and recently moved to Dallas.

After the shooting, investigators said, Lucking drove to DeKalb County and confessed to his estranged wife, who called authorities.

β€œI shot and killed my girlfriend at 11:15 a.m.” Wednesday, he told the officers, according to documents obtained by the newspaper.

Lucking has been in the DeKalb County Jail since Feb. 10.

Attempts to reach Affatato's family on Monday were unsuccessful.
