Update: Driver's ID Released, Charges Pending

James Rummell, 60, of Jasper, will likely face DUI and failure to maintain lane charges when released from North Fulton Hospital.

The has identified the 60-year-old Pickens County man who had to be removed from the front windshield of his car on Thursday night after a single-vehicle accident.

About 9:15 p.m. Thursday, responded to the accident at 8446 Ball Ground Hwy., spokesman Tim Cavender said.

Investigators found a blue Hyundai Senoia that had left the highway and struck some trees. Rummell, who was conscious and alert, was trapped inside. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle, then removed him from the front windshield of the car, Cavender said.

Rummell was conscious and alert and was taken by ambulance to North Fulton Hospital with severe facial lacerations.

There were no other injuries, Cavender said.
