Two Arrested For Entering Autos in BridgeMill

The stolen items were taken from unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood, according to the Cherokee Sheriff's Office.

Two teenagers have been arrested for allegedly taking items from unsecured vehicles in one of Cherokee County's largest subdivisions.

Cherokee Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested Canton residents Shaquille Oneal Webb, 18 years old and James Logan Ketchum, 17, after they were caught allegedly taking items from vehicles in the BridgeMill neighborhood.

According to a press release from the agency, Webb has been charged with 2 counts of entering auto, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Ketchum was charged with charged with 3 counts of entering auto, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, driving with no license and theft of a motor vehicle. He also face charges stemming from an entering auto incident that happened Friday night in the same neighborhood. 

A 15-year-old who was in the car at the time of the arrests was not charged and was released to a guardian.

Both Webb and Ketchum remain behind bars at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. Webb currently has a $7,335 bond while Ketchum received a $19,410 bond.

At around 2 a.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to the neighborhood on the entering auto call, which was already in progress. Cherokee County E-911 told deputies a BridgeMill resident saw the teens enter the cars and their spouse was following the suspects in their vehicle. 

Deputies were able to locate the suspect and conducted a traffic stop inside the neighborhood.

Small electronics and cash were recovered by deputies, all of which were taken from unlocked vehicles in BridgeMill. 

"Residents are urged to lock the vehicles at all times when not occupied," said Spokesman Lt. Jay Baker in the press release. "Almost all thefts from vehicles occur from cars that simply were not locked."

Cherokee deputies have discovered at least three victims in the case, but that could rise.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office also urges residents to call 911 if they see or hear anything unusual outside or see thefts in action.
