UPDATE: Missing Cherokee County Woman Found Safe

Joan McDowell, 84, of Acworth, was last seen leaving her doctor's office on Stone Bridge Parkway in Woodstock at 9 a.m. Tuesday before being found safely later that day.

UPDATE: According to Cherokee Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker, McDowell had gotten lost after her appointment and wound up in Roswell. McDowell turned on her cell phone to contact her husband for help, who then reached out to the Roswell Police Department. The department was able to locate McDowell safely.

UPDATE: The Cherokee Sheriff's Office announced shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday that Joan McDowell has been found safe.

ORIGINAL STORY:Β The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help to locate an elderly woman last seen in Cherokee County Tuesday morning.

According to a Sheriff's Office press release, Joan McDowell, 84, left her doctor's office on Stone Bridge Parkway in Woodstock at 9 a.m. and has not been seen since.

McDowell, from Acworth, was last seen driving her 2008 model Lincoln Town Car, with Georgia license plateΒ PNF4402. McDowell is 5-foot-4, and weighs approximately 130 lbs. with short gray hair and glasses. She was last seen wearing a pink shirt and jeans.
