Sex Offender, 9 Others Arrested

The arrests came during an operation at the Shadowood Mobile Home Park in Acworth.

An operation intended to nab more than 100 "foreign born" individuals with outstanding warrants resulted in the arrest of a California sex offender who had been deported, the spokesman said today.

None of the 100 were located during Tuesday night's operation at the Shadowood Mobile Home Park in Acworth, Lt. Jay Baker said.

However, 10 others—the sex offender included—were.

Seven "individuals with ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) holds and persons who had been deported from the United States and had returned were placed into custody," Baker said. "A sex offender from California who had been deported from United States was also arrested after being located in the park."

All of them are at the Whitfield County Jail awaiting deportation.

A ninth person, Braulio Lopez-Galindo of Acworth, was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute after officials found 7 grams of cocaine. Galindo, 29, is being held at the .

The last individual was arrested on a U.S. Marshals Service warrant for violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and transported to an undisclosed federal holding facility.

The operation was a collaborative effort between the Cherokee Sheriff's Office, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Marshals Service and the State Board of Pardons and Paroles.

"We are very pleased with this operation and pledge to aggressively pursue these individuals through joint efforts such as this," Cherokee Sheriff Roger Garrison said.
