Overturned Jeep Sends Pair to Hospital

The accident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. in Canton.

CORRECTION: Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services has confirmed that the 16-year-old girl in the overturned jeep was not the driver.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two young women are at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta after the Jeep they were in left the roadway and landed on its top on Friday afternoon.

According to a Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services press release, personnel from Cherokee Fire and the Canton Fire Department responded to Killian Road at the Brick Mill Road intersection in Canton at 4:50 p.m. Friday in response to an overturned black Jeep Cherokee.

Both the 16-year-old female driver and one of her passengers, an 18-year-old-female, were taken to the hospital. According to the release, the driver may have suffered a head injury, and her passenger complained of back pain and suffered some cuts and bruises.

Three male passengers in the Jeep were unharmed.

Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the accident.
