New Officer Joins Canton Police Department

Officer Christian Cruz was hired in August by the department and was sworn in last week at Canton City Hall

A new face has joined the Canton Police Department.

The department has hired Christian Cruz as its newest officer. Cruz was sworn in last week by Canton Municipal Court Judge Tom Roach and was presented with his new badge at Canton City Hall. 

Officer Cruz was hired by the department in August and attended the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy.

He will spend the next several months in the department's Field Training Officer program, which provides a "foundation for learning that prepares new officers for the complexities of policing today and in the future," the agency said in a news release.
