Woman's Father Announces Reward

John Hernandez is driving up to Georgia on Saturday to aid in the search for 20-year-old Ariel Hernandez. Meanwhile, the Canton Police Department has contacted the GBI.

The father of a missing Canton woman has announced a $500 reward for information leading to his daughter's whereabouts.

John Hernandez hasn't spoken to Ariel Hernandez since March 8 and it's not like her to go so long without as much as a call, a text or an email to family and friends, he told the  last Friday, the day he reported her missing.

Today, he told a Canton-Sixes Patch reporter that he plans to pull out from his Port St. Lucie, FL, home on Saturday afternoon and make his way to Georgia. John Hernandez said he and his daughter's friends plan to distribute flyers to aid in the search for Ariel Hernandez.

Meanwhile, the spokeswoman for the Canton Police Department said the agency will call the FBI on Monday to get out-of-state assistance if the woman has not been located by then. Officials have already contacted the GBI to consult with them, Sgt. Stacy Bailey said.

"She mentioned to friends of possibly going out of state to lay low to avoid law enforcement," she said tonight.

Ariel Hernandez, who moved from the  off Marietta Highway to the Great Sky home where her boyfriend's parents live around the first of March, has two warrants out for her arrest in connection with a card fraud scheme during her boyfriend's tenure as a seasonal employee at UPS.

The boyfriend,  and charged with two counts of financial transaction card fraud as well two counts of financial transaction card theft. He is being held at the .

Ariel Hernandez is wanted on similar charges, Bailey said.

Authorities are not ruling out foul play though they don't have any evidence to support that at this time, she said.

Ariel Hernandez drives a red or maroon 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt with Florida license plate No. 584 TWJ.
