UPDATE: Man Killed in Tyson Chicken Truck Collision

A man driving a pick-up truck was fatally injured in an accident Wednesday afternoon in eastern Cherokee County.

A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of one man in eastern Cherokee County Wednesday afternoon.

The Georgia State Patrol received the call of the accident just after 4 p.m. Wednesday along S.R. 372/Ball Ground Road near Liberty Church Lane, said Spokesman Gordy Wright.

First responders with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services arrived onto the scene, and discovered a "fully loaded" Tyson chicken truck had collided with a white Ford F-150 truck, said Cherokee Fire Spokesman Tim Cavender.

The truck, driven by Ronald Blake Dodd, 35, of Calhoun, crossed the center line of the state highway, and hit the semi-truck head-on, Wright said.

Wright added Dodd was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the fatal accident.

The driver of the Tyson truck, a 63-year-old man, was "shaken, but did not report any injuries," Cavender added.

No other injuries were sustained in the accident and Wright said no charges are pending in the accident.
