Man Injured in Single-Vehicle Accident

A man struck a tree along Worley Road in northern Cherokee County on Friday afternoon.

A man is recovering from injuries he suffered in a single vehicle accident that happened Friday afternoon in the Clayton Community.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the accident at around 1:15 p.m. on Worley Road about one and half miles from its intersection with Lower Burris Road, said agency's Director of Public Affairs Tim Cavender. 

After arriving onto the scene, emergency crews discovered a gray Toyota Camry left the roadway and struck a tree. Cherokee Battalion Chief Dan Floyd said the man suffered "severe injuries to his lower extremities."

The patient was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta in serious condition. 

No other injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved in the accident. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
