Man Dies Days After Head-on Collision - Cumming Patch

A 61-year-old man involved in a head-on collision Friday afternoon on Canton Highway (Highway 20) near Business Drive in northwest Forsyth County has died from his injuries, according to authorities.

Howard B. Nichelson of nearby Canton, died this morning [Tuesday] at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, according to Inv. Ron Tomblin of theForsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Nichelson had been on life support since the Friday, Jan. 4 collision. Read Cumming Patch for more on this story.

Second Arrest Made in Fatal Shooting on Ponce de Leon - Virginia Highland-Druid Hills Patch.

Atlanta police have arrested a 51-year-old man in the brazen daylight killing of a man in his vehicle last fall, according to a news release.

Denorris Turner was arrested Monday and charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault and Criminal Attempt in the killing of Graham Sisk, 23.

Dunwoody Police Look For McDonald's Armed Robbery Suspects - Dunwoody Patch

Dunwoody Police are searching for two suspects in connection with an armed robbery that occurred early Monday morning at a McDonald's on Ashford-Dunwoody Road.

Lock Fails to Stop Thief at Dacula-Area Gym - Dacula Patch

A Dacula man took steps to prevent the theft of his valuables while working out at a local gym, but the measures proved inadequate.

According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the man went to Gold’s Gym on the afternoon of Jan. 1 and secured his wallet in a locker at approximately 3:30 p.m. When he returned to his locket at 5 p.m., the wallet was gone. Bill Would Allow School Administrators in Georgia to Carry Guns - Cartersville Patch

As states and communities across the country try to think of ways to prevent another shooting like Sandy Hook in Newtown, CT, a local lawmaker has introduced legislation that would allow school administrators to carry a gun.

Introduced by State Rep. Paul Battles, R-Cartersville, the proposed amendment to firearms statutes would allow boards of education the option of arming and training administrators for each school in the system. Read Cartersville Patch for more on this story.

Man Whacks Away Intruder with Golf Club - Athens Patch

Around 7am on January 6, officers responded to a burglary that had just occurred at a North Harris Street residence of a UGA student.

Officers met with the 22-year-old resident who said he had been asleep when he heard a noise in the living room. He looked out of his bedroom door but did not see anything out of order so he went back to bed.

A few minutes later he heard another noise. He grabbed a golf club--a 7 iron, according to the Athens Banner Herald--from his closet, entered the living room and saw a man standing there. Read Athens Patch for more on this story.
