The sheriff's office said the suspects allegedly cut and loaded "a large amount of copper" into their vehicle before deputies arrived onto the scene.

The copper was returned to Cobb EMC, and the cost to repair the damage should exceed $5,000, the agency added. It's unknown how much the copper is worth.

"Would be copper thieves should consider that not only is stealing copper illegal, it is extremely dangerous and can result in electrocution," the sheriff's office said in its news release.
