Man, 24, Charged With Public Indecency

A Canton man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly fondling himself at a Kroger parking lot in Hickory Flat.

At around 8:40 p.m. June 19, deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched to Kroger, located at 6766 Hickory Flat Highway, after a resident called 911 and reported a man was "masturbating in his vehicle," said agency spokesperson Lt. Jay Baker. 

By the time deputies arrived, the vehicle and the suspect were gone, but the citizen was able to provide a description of the suspect and his vehicle, including the tag number. 

Deputies went to the residence where the vehicle was registered and made contact with the suspect, James Blake Worley, 24, of Canton. 

Deputies gathered enough evidence to charge Worley with public indecency. 

Worley was released Friday morning from the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center after posting a $1,500 bond.

In March, Canton resident Paul Lamar Phillips, 59, was arrested and charged with indecent exposure after residents reported a man masturbating in a minivan at the same Kroger location as well as CVS Pharmacy, located at 6120 Hickory Flat Highway.
