Lake Arrowhead Pins First Female Fire Chief in Cherokee County

Rebecca Strobl has been volunteering with the fire department for six years.

The Lake Arrowhead Volunteer Fire Department has a new chief, the first female fire chief in Cherokee County.

Rebecca Strobl, the newly-minted chief, was promoted during a ceremony at the Golf Club of Lake Arrowhead on Saturday.

Cherokee County Assistant Fire Chief Eddie Robinson read the promotion warrant, and Strobl was "pinned" with her new rank by Cherokee County Fire Chief Tim Prather and Strobl's husband Garrett.

Prather said he was honored to be a part of the ceremony that welcomed the first female fire chief to Cherokee County.

Rep. Phil Gingrey and Cherokee County Commissioner and former Fire Chief Raymond Gunnin also spoke at the event.
