Two women and one man were taken to local hospitals after an afternoon accident on Knox Bridge Highway, just west of .
spokesman Tim Cavender said a burgundy Ford Explorer left the highway and flipped several times before landing down an embankment.
When crews arrived on the scene, they found an unidentified 30-year-old female passenger lying on the ground outside the automobile. The 28-year-old male driver and a 38-year-old female passenger were trapped in the car.
"It is uncertain at this time if (the 30-year-old passenger) was ejected or got out of the automobile on her own," Cavender said. "The driver and another passenger ... had to be extricated."
With the exception of the 38-year-old passenger, who was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta with "a deep, 8-inch laceration to her right leg and fractures to her right elbow," the injured were taken to in Marietta.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident, Cavender said.
