Hwy. 140 Reopens After Accident
When Cherokee County Fire and Emergency crews arrived on the scene at 2:30 a.m., they discovered the driver of a tractor-trailer trapped in his truck.
Investigators are trying to determine what caused an early morning accident that temporarily shut down Highway 140, near the Cherokee-Bartow County line.

Battalion Chief Dan Floyd said the truck was "on a steep embankment with the driver’s side on the "down hill" side of the bank," which "hampered efforts to gain access to the driver.

"He was literally trapped in this truck that was about 20 feet over a creek. The driver was conscious and talking to rescue personnel during the extrication process."
Bartow County emergency personnel transported the unidentified man to Floyd Medical Center with possible internal injuries and several broken bones, particularly in his lower extremities.
