GBI: 2 of 4 Shots Hit Canton Boy

Preliminary findings back up what local law enforcement said after a family was found dead Friday morning inside an Alexander Ridge apartment unit.

A preliminary report from the Medical Examiner's Office of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed what  investigators had already suspected: Three people found inside an Alexander Ridge apartment unit on Friday were victims of a .

Behind on bills, Christopher E. Conley and girlfriend Minnie Carr were scheduled to move out of the Alexander Ridge apartments this weekend with their 4-year-old son.

Conley's brother discovered the family lying on a bedroom floor with a carbine-like rifle nearby around 6:45 a.m. Friday, Canton Police Lt. German Rivas said the morning of the shooting.

It appears Conley, 30, was the shooter.

The GBI report found that two of the four rounds struck his son, Casey Noah Conley, Rivas just told Canton-Sixes Patch.

"One round hit the child in the face, and the second round was fired into the back of the neck," he said. "One round hit the female in the cheek and exited at the back of the neck, and the last round was fired under the chin in the adult male."

Final findings will not be available for at least another month, Rivas said.
