Former Police Spokeswoman Will Sue Canton

Sgt. Stacy Bailey is suing the City of Canton for alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The former Canton Police spokeswoman who was embroiled in controversies stemming from an affair with the former Sandy Springs Police Chief will soon file suit against the city.

Sgt. Stacy Bailey allegedly diverted funds from the Canton Police Department's Explorers fund to for the disabled son of the former Sandy Springs Police Chief Scott Jamison.

Bailey also drew interest from the GBI due to her alleged misappropriation of funds.

On Oct. 9, the City of Canton was served notice that a lawsuit is impending from Bailey, alleging violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Bailey was suspended from her post with pay in July.

Bailey was responsible for the implementation of a new safety program for children that came in the wake of the murder of 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera.Β
