Fire Destroys East Cherokee Building

The fire is under investigation by officials with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

A building off Highway 20 in the Macedonia community is a total loss after a fire broke out Thursday afternoon.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services arrived shortly after noon onto the property, located at 505 Old Mill Road east of Canton.

First responders found the building, which was located behind a house on the property, "fully involved," said agency spokesman Tim Cavender.

A person at the home told authorities a passing motorist saw the building on fire from the road, and went to notify the resident of the situation, Cavender.

The fire engulfed the building, destroying any chance of the structure's survival.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by Cherokee County fire authorities.
