A building near Ball Ground was destroyed after the structure caught on fire Tuesday evening.

At around 8:45 p.m., first responders with Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the fire at 333 Purcell Free Drive, located off Mineral Springs Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the building to be "fully involved" with flames, Cherokee fire spokesperson Tim Cavender said.

Cavender said firefighters "worked hard and were able to knock down the fire within minutes."

Capt. Kevin Lanier added the building's interior was littered with a work table and cans of paint. Fortunately, the owner was not living there at the time, Cavender added.

No injuries were reported from the blaze, which is under investigation by Cherokee County fire officials.
