Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services was at the scene of a chicken house fire at Old Lathemtown Road in Macedonia on Monday afternoon, authorities say.

According to a Fire Department press release, a 911 call was placed just after 12:30 p.m. by a neighbor of the structure in the 1460 block of Old Lathemtown Road. Units were dispatched and arrived within minutes of the initial call.

Firefighters found a structure half engulfed with flames, and had to battle heavy winds that threatened to spread the fire further. Fortunately, firefighters were able to contain the blaze and save the other half of the chicken house.
