Fire Damages Home in Northeast Cherokee

The fire was quelled before any major structural damage occurred. No one was injured in the blaze.

A fire damaged a home in extreme northeastern Cherokee County Wednesday afternoon. 

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services arrived onto the scene at 627 Wilkie Road shortly after 1 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames billowing from the one-story home. 

The home sits off Franklin Gold Mine Road.

While Cherokee firefighters were able to put out the blaze before any major structural damage occurred, the house did receive some fire, smoke and water damage. 

The man who lives at the house was not home at the time of the fire. Aside from a Cherokee County firefighter twisting his back while working to put out the fire, no other injuries were reported.
