Former Kennesaw Church Volunteer Gets Life

He admitted that he molested nine boys, including two relatives.

Former NorthStar Church volunteer Cesar Pastrana will spend the rest of his life in prison after he pleaded guilty Friday to 10 counts of child molestation, four counts of aggravated child molestation and one count of aggravated sodomy.

The 25-year-old Kennesaw man admitted in a Cobb County courtroom that he molested nine boys, including two relatives, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

It was a different story than the one Pastrana initially told church officials when asked about an allegation of inappropriate conduct during a February church lock-in for middle and high school students.

"We called Cesar in for a meeting," Rev. Mike Linch said at the time. "He denied the allegation but we immediately released him as a volunteer in our ministry and asked him to not come back to NorthStar."

Pastrana was arrested Feb. 10 on two counts of child molestation and two counts of aggravated child molestation after police said he molested a juvenile during the church lock-in, which was held the weekend of Feb. 3 at a private Acworth home.

The warrants for those initial charges also covered an August incident, according to Cobb County jail records. Pastrana had been at the jail since Feb. 10 without bond.

As authorities continued to investigate him, the number of charges grew. In May, a Cobb County grand jury returned a 15-count indictment against Pastrana, a North Cobb High School graduate.

The church conducted a background check on Pastrana and the results came back clean. The check did not reveal that Pastrana had been banned from Barber Middle School in Acworth, where he was a volunteer two years ago.

Well the Church officials and the the Clergy need to be held accountable for not taking action the minute they received the letter from Barber Middle School. Seems to me the Officials are getting off lightly. The members and the church as a whole should not be blamed, but I feel our community support of the church while the same officials are there should be curtailed until the time the board removes the ones that were aware and did nothing. You can tell a person capabilities if they have a police record but most pedophiles do not have a criminal record. Some wear badges, others work with children, others are clergy most are Jewish Rabbi´s and others are the harmless paraplegic nobody thought would have the desire to hurt a child and of course when it is all over with some are in all levels of government and most of them are members of a network. That is why it is so hard to catch them because when one is top official of the District Attorneys office( not pointing to Cobb but Conecuh County Alabama) then many victims accumulate before justice is served.

Seems to be a conflict of interest by Pat Heads office; he and James Bodiford can with hold evidence of child molestation out of the case of Titleman verses Titleman in 2006 because of Mr Titlemans political contributions but yet want to put sickos like themselves behind bars for life. Why doesn´t Pat Head and Ann Harris go ahead and resign while they are still ahead? Because they are too corrupt to do so.

I think that all news reports are missing one big fact. This was all totally preventable!!!!!!!! Mike Lynch received a letter almost 3 YEARS ago warning him that Cesar was potentially dangerous, yet he did nothing about it and handed Cesar his victims. I am mad and disgusted! The pastor and all others who knew, but did nothing should resign.
