ORIGINAL STORY

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause of death of a woman whose body was found floating in Lake Arrowhead near Waleska Monday evening.

Deputies with the Cherokee Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the lake, situated in the neighborhood with the same name, at around 7:44 p.m. Monday after a boater reported a body floating in the water, sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said in a news release.

Lake Arrowhead sits slightly northwest of Waleska.

Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services' Dive Team removed the body from the lake, which has been identified as an elderly resident of the neighborhood, Lt. Baker added.

However, the agency is not releasing the woman's identity at this time pending notification of her family.
