hopes to raise enough money this month to outfit each of its "first-out" trucks with oxygen mask kits.
During the month of September, the department is participating in the "Project Breathe" donation program to provide pet oxygen mask kits to first responders. For every kit purchased through donations, , which started the program, will donate one kit.
"Our overall goal is to raise enough money for roughly 15 kits," Cherokee County firefighter Erik Mork said. "I'd like each "first-out" fire truck in the county to carry one kit. The masks are compatible with our supplemental oxygen equipment and are reusable."
Project Breathe donation boxes are available in the following locations:
- Etowah Veterinary Hospital
- Veterinary Care Center, 8016 Cumming Hwy.
