Creekview Student Killed in Single-Vehicle Wreck

Cheyenne Gabrielle Heard, 17, was ejected from her vehicle when she ran off the roadway and struck a culvert.

Creekview High School is mourning the loss of a student who was killed in a one-vehicle accident early Friday morning.

At 3:30 a.m. Friday, Cheyenne Gabrielle Heard, 17, of Canton, driving eastbound on Highway 20/Cumming Highway when her 2000 Chevrolet Silverado veered off the roadway and hit a culvert, said Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright.

The truck overturned and she was ejected from the vehicle.

Heard, who was not restrained, was "fatally injured" and transported to Northside Hospital-Cherokee.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the accident.

The Cherokee County School District has provided additional counselors to help students, and Principal Dr. Adrian Thomason will send a letter home to parents informing them of the accident.
