Court Date Set for Canton Man Accused of Child Molestation, Rape

A few more details emerged today in the case of Joshua Daniels, the Canton man accused of molesting a 10-year-old Colquitt County girl.

A hearing for a married Canton man accused of molesting his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter has been set.

Joshua Daniels, 29, will appear before Colquitt County Magistrate Court Judge J.J. McMillan at 9 a.m. Jan. 10, Moultrie Police Cpl. Dave Underwood told Canton-Sixes Patch today.

It was three weeks ago today that with his wife and children, and arrested him.

They were led to him after the 10-year-old Colquitt County girl told a neighbor that she had been assaulted, according to a report in The Moultrie Observer.

Every other weekend for at least a year, Daniels traveled to South Georgia to visit the girl's mother, with whom he has a child.

While on those trips, Underwood said today, Daniels molested the girl.

"We're still investigating the time frame in which this was all going on," Underwood said. "It had been going on for a considerable amount of time. The child was interviewed by a forensic interviewer (with the) Department of Family and Children Services. The information she disclosed was credible."

Daniels was booked in the Colquitt County Jail on Dec. 15 on charges of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, rape and aggravated assault. He remains there without bond.
