The Cherokee County-based Goshen Valley Boys Ranch recently received an extra financial boost.

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency earlier this week donated a check in the amount of $2,930 to the ranch, which is located in Salacoa Valley.

The agency donated their winnings from the 8th annual Guns and Hoses 5K Run, which was held in February at Hobgood Park.

The ranch is provides a stable atmosphere for at-risk boys. The money, according to Director of Residential Life Zach Blend, will be used to pay for fees so the boys can participate in Cherokee High School athletics.
