Canton's Firefighter, Policemen of the Year Named

The officers were recognized last month for their service to the community.

The City of Canton Police Department and City of Canton Fire Department have named their officers and firefighter of the year.

All public servants were nominated and chosen not only because of their professional accomplishments but their activities within the community, taking their personal time to better the Canton area.

The police department named several officers of the year, one for each division within the department:

Chris Evans - Traffic Investigator of the Year

Rodney Campbell - Detective of the Year

Jesse Ray - Officer of the Year

The Firefighter of the Year is Joe Ray.

Each of the above officers "exceeded the requirements expected of his or her position and has shown a distinct pattern of community service and professional achievement," according to a city press release.
