Canton Police Hunt Jewelry Store Robbery Suspects

Two men allegedly held up Cartersville Jewelry Exchange on Riverstone Parkway before noon on Friday.

The Canton Police Department is asking the public to help them identify and locate two men they believe are behind an armed robbery at a jewelry store.

At around 11:20 a.m. Friday, two men entered Cartersville Jewelry Exchange, located at 1552 Riverstone Parkway Suite 170, armed with handguns and "demanded employees get to the ground," according to a press release from the department.

The suspects allegedly tried to break the glass display cases to remove items, and they may have taken some jewelry from those cases, the agency said.

The men then fled the store, and are believed to have been driving a dark green Ford F-150 truck southbound on Interstate 575.

A witness followed the suspects near the Hidden Creek subdivision where police recovered the vehicle, which is believed to have been carjacked from Atlanta. The men, however, fled on foot.

With the help of the Cherokee Sheriff's Office and Holly Springs Police Department, Canton police set up a perimeter near the subdivision as a "precautionary measure."

A witness also told police they saw two men throw the items on the side of the road before they got into a waiting car on I-575 near exit 14. The witness told police the vehicle proceeded to flee southbound, but police were able to recover the items related to the robbery on the side of the interstate.

The suspects are believed to be African-American men. Specifically, one suspect stands around 6'2 tall, has a medium build and was wearing dark-colored jeans, a red sweatshirt with a hood and white tennis shoes. The other suspect is believed to be six feet tall and was seen wearing a grey hoodie.

Canton police ask residents to call 911 or the department at (770) 720-4883 if they see these suspects or if they have information in relation to the robbery.
