Canton Police Department Welcomes Two New Sergeants

Before earning their new rank, the two officers had to pass a rigorous board examination.

Two corporals with the Canton Police Department were officially promoted to sergeant and invested with their new badges during a ceremony last week.

Newly-minted sergeants Denise Barry and Rodney Campbell earned their stripes by passing the rigorous Sergeant Assessment Board. The board is made up of outside, independent officers and members of other agencies.

After passing the board exam, the sergeants were formally promoted and given their new badges during a ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 5. The family members of the sergeants pinned the new badges on their loved ones.

Officer Pacer Cordry was also recognized with a Medal of Merit for his work with the department's social media and August's National Night Out event.
