Canton Man Charged with Indecent Exposure

Paul Lamar Phillips, 59, is accused of pleasuring himself in the Hickory Flat area.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office have arrested and charged a man who was caught allegedly pleasuring himself in a minivan in the Hickory Flat area.

Canton resident Paul Lamar Phillips, 59, has been charged with two counts of indecent exposure and remains behind bars without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. 

The agency received two reports in as many days of a man pleasuring himself in a vehicle at local businesses in Hickory Flat, spokesman Lt. Jay Baker with the sheriff's office said.

Monday's incident occurred around 9 a.m. at Kroger, located at 6766 Hickory Flat Highway. A similar incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at CVS, which sits at 6120 Hickory Flat Highway.

In both cases, Phillips was spotted in a gold or tan minivan.

Deputies with the sheriff's office "flooded the area" and located a gold Kia minivan driving in the area and pulled over the vehicle at the entrance to Kroger. 

The victim in yesterday's incident was able to positively identify Phillips as the man she saw at CVS. 

Phillips was previously out on bond for a 2013 burglary.
