BridgeMill Home Damaged In Fire

The damage to the home in the large subdivision was contained to the back deck, attic and master bedroom.

A home in the BridgeMill subdivision was damaged in a fire that broke out Tuesday morning. 

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to the fire shortly after 8 a.m. at 831 Valley Drive near Canton. 

A neighbor contacted Cherokee County E-911 and reported the deck on the back of the house was on fire, Cherokee fire said in a press release. The caller went to the front door of the home to see if its occupants were inside.

The man told the family the house was on fire and they "quickly got out to safety," the agency said. 

The first engine arrived onto the scene in about five minutes of the call and firefighters discovered the fire on the back deck was spreading into the attic.

Within 15 minutes, firefighters were able to get the fire under control and save the house from major damage. The damage was limited to the home's back deck, attic and master bedroom. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation and there were no reports of any injuries.
