Autopsy: Woman Found In Cherokee Lake Drowned

The body of Acworth resident Betty West was found floating in a lake inside the Waldan Pond apartment complex last week.

Preliminary results indicate a 74-year-old woman found dead in a lake last week drowned, the Cherokee Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

The body of Acworth resident Betty West was found floating in a lake on the Waldan Pond apartment complex property Thursday afternoon. The complex sits at 450 Waldan Circle, which is off Bells Ferry Road south of Highway 92. 

The sheriff's office was dispatched to the scene after a resident discovered the woman's body.

"The investigation is still ongoing, but currently no foul play is suspected," sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said.
