Apps for Citizens Academy Available

The Canton Citizens Police Academy includes 10 weeks of training.

Have you ever wanted to know more about police work or law enforcement in general?

The City of Canton Citizens Police Academy consists of 10 weeks of training, one night a week, for a 2.5- or a 3-hour block of time. The Citizens Police Academy is designed to provide Canton residents with firsthand knowledge and experience about how the operates.

The Citizens Police Academy is taught by police officers and department personnel in their own areas of specialties and expertise. The weekly sessions cover a range of topics to include patrol, criminal investigations, traffic stops, crime scenes, narcotics, DUI enforcement, officer use of force, officer safety and community policing. The Citizens Police Academy will take a field trip to the . Classes will be held every Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Some classes might extend until 9 pm.

Citizens will have to pass a background check prior to being accepted into the City of Canton Citizens Police Academy.
