After Brunn Indictment, New Details

Monday, Ryan Brunn was indicted on 13 counts in connection with the murder of Canton Elementary first-grader Jorelys Rivera.

After she was lured to unit No. 10009, Jorelys Rivera's hands were bound with plastic ties.

Duct tape was applied to her mouth, which had been stuffed with a rag.

An uknown object was inserted into her anus "with the intent to arouse and satisfy the sexual desires of" her attacker.  

With a "sharp-edged, knife-like object," Jorelys was stabbed in the chest and face. Her throat was slit.

She was struck in the head and face with a "blunt, hard-surfaced, hammer-like object." The blow killed her, an .

Those were among the new details to emerge in court documents after of murder suspect , a 20-year-old maintenance worker at the apartment community where Jorelys lived and died.

Brunn has been at the since authorities arrested him on Dec. 7, two days after investigators  in a compacting Dumpster from the apartment complex.

Originally facing charges of murder and making a false statement, 11 new charges were added on Monday, including two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of enticing a child for indecent purposes, one count of false imprisonment, one count of abandonment of a dead body and one count of sexual exploitation of children.

The latter charge, court documents show, stems from an allegation that Brunn "knowingly" possessed material "depicting a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct" between Nov. 27 and Dec. 6.

Before the county grand jury indicted Brunn this week, his court-appointed attorneys challenged the makeup of the jurors on Jan. 5. In court filings, Daran Burns and David L. Cannon contended that the jurors were "unconstitutionally composed, as young adults age 18 to 30, women, blacks, the poor, and others are systemically excluded and have no adequate representation."

The disposition of that matter is unknown.

Burns told Canton-Sixes Patch last month that to Jorelys' slaying. Pleas are entered at the time of arraignment, and Brunn's has not been scheduled.
