Cherokee parents should file charges of reckless child endangerment against the school board just who does dr. p think he is
Heather Grant Alcott January 29, 2014 at 07:32 AM
That's a bunch of crap. It is not dr.p's fault. Why don't you just sue the weatherman. That's your warped way of thinking.

EVeN though the schools were incorrect..who do you think will pay for the court time? Hopefully all got home safe...I want my tax money to go where it needs to. They learned their lesson the hard way.

I don't know whose fault it is but the county should never opened the schools to start with. We had weather warnings issued but still the schools opened causing more chaos to people's lives. And then to wait and wait before releasing the kids was a ridiculous idea no matter who issued the orders. Very unorganized and unprofessional.

I AGREE IT WAS ALL FOR THEM TO GET A FULL DAY PAY WITHOUT USING A SNOW DAY! LET'S CLEAN THE BOARD OF EDUCATION!!! Yes, character does leave fingerprints, it is time to make "CHANGE", WE CAN NOT HAVE CAREER POLITIANS LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL AND INACTING THE SAME POLICIES WHICH HAVE DESTROYED THIS COUNTRY! STOP THE CORRUPTION AND THE "GOOD OLD BOYS" SYSTEM!!!

Do not vote for any "incumbent" on election day. Democrat or Republican. We really need to clean house in more ways than one.
Tommy Akins January 29, 2014 at 02:31 PM
Idiots, you had warnings yourselves. Why did you send your kids to the dreaded government indoctrination centers. You as parents are responsible for your children. Quit depending on people to save your a&&. The mayors Gov and Everyone else are human they make mistakes. They were doomed no matter which way they turned. If they closed schools you'd all be here bitching because you didn't have free babysitting today. Shame on all of you.
Allah Tabul January 30, 2014 at 11:02 AM
Tommy, you're the idiot. If parents don't send their kids to schools on 'normal' school days, they'll have to deal with truancy issues. get your head out of your ass. The school districts across metro ATL dropped the ball on this one and need to be held accountable. Shame on you.
Frank Jones January 30, 2014 at 06:48 PM
Repeat after me..."All people make mistakes." Repeat after me..."Even I make mistakes." Basically, here's the deal. Dr. P made a decision based upon the information that he had that we were to receive less than an inch of snow. If he'd closed school simply to be overly careful and the snow didn't come, you'd all be complaining that he closed school on a whim. Instead, he opened schools and it turned out to be a mistake. Sh&t happens and it happened all over GA. The real question is what can be learn from this? How about, snow chains for buses and bus riders leave before car riders? How about salt & sand for the roads? How about, in case of snow/ice people not tailgate, stomp on brakes, or attempt to go uphill at 3 MPH? Yes Dr. P made a mistake but so did the rest of us. If you are all soooo smart, why aren't you on the school board, in gov't, or even better, the Superintendent? If you are all sooo smart, why didn't you keep you kids at home? If you are all sooo smart, why don't you push for solutions like chains, salt, sand, traffic control, driving lessons, etc?

Repeat after me: By 3AM Tuesday, the weather services were predicting that the storm would hit Cherokee County. Stop making weak excuses for this debacle, Mr. Jones. We are all sooo smart - that's why we are NOT in government. It's why government is filled with such idiots as the ones who goofed up on Tuesday. The simple solution is to watch the weather services and when a Winter Storm Warning is in effect, Cancel School! The DOT was equally derelict.
No More Bullies January 31, 2014 at 12:53 AM
Cherokee County was NOT in the national weather service warning at 3:38 am. Cherokee was not in the warning at 11 am. Cherokee was under an advisory only, for up to an inch of snow over the course of 8-12 hours, until it was added to the warning at 1:12 pm and the forecast adjusted to 3 inches. School was cancelled three hours before the warning, Allah, the buses began rolling into service almost immediately (running preliminary hub routes before elementary schools began dismissing at noon). Here is the timeline from NWS. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/?n=20140128winterstorm

These "Monday Morning Quarterbacks" are all so brilliant.
Daniel Davis February 02, 2014 at 06:53 AM
Every metro school district made the same decision and was in the same boat. GEMA, State Government, LOCAL governments were all in the same boat. No one was prepared including the 2.2 million people who hit the road at the same time. People need to grow up and learn to cope with life.
Allah Tabul February 02, 2014 at 11:06 AM
And every metro school district's superintendents should be under fire as well. People also need to learn how to cope with an impending winter storm. People also need to learn to stop make excuses for bad leadership and poor decision-making. Your kids won't get better grades just because their parents are sucking up to the district. No More Bullies, you're as ignorantly wrong as the superintendent. Cherokee County absolutely was in the path of the storm as announced by the NWS at 338AM Tuesday. Your ignorance has been debunked elsewhere. Stop blaming the weathermen. They got this one right. Local gov't predictably got it wrong. At the end of it, that's what's most-embarrassing to you excuse-makers -- that your beloved gov't was shown to be incompetent.

ALLAH went and read all your trolling ways. Shame on you
Allah Tabul March 10, 2014 at 05:53 PM
Do not cast shame upon me, infidel. I do not troll but instead speak only the truth. As Mohammed is my witness, I promise you this: I will not waste one second of His time reading any of your previous posts, Mr. Akins. Boom shakalaka Amen!
