Rogers Elected to National Position

1. 's Elizabeth Bradley, Josiah Fernandez and Olivia Ortiz were named "Commended Students" by the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program, district spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said Friday. Click for details.

2. Members of the State Legislative Leaders Foundation elected Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers, R-Woodstock, first National Chairman of the Majority Leaders Conference. "It is an incredible honor to serve as the National Chairman for the upcoming Majority Leaders Conference," Rogers said. "The opportunity to work with legislative leaders from around the nation can only help bring new and innovative ideas to Georgia. This bi-partisan group of Majority Leaders from all 50 states brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and public policy insight that should be shared to help improve every state."

5. You'll have to wait to find out if the broke the Guinness World Record for the nation’s largest Simon Says game. "The collection process will take several days since it was a nationwide event," spokeswoman Kristen Healey said Friday. About 150 participants from the Prominence Point Parkway campus joined 370 other locations around the country in an attempt to set a new record. To do that, 12,215 participants had to play the game at the exact same time.
