Teen Readies for Macy's Parade

Canton's Savanah Rose Manos, 13, was selected from a national audition pool of more than 1,000. Only 132 were chosen to perform during the nationally-televised broadcast of the Thanksgiving parade.

When the 85th Anniversary Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade airs Thursday morning, Canton residents may recognize a familiar face.

Savanah Rose Manos, an eighth-grade honors student at K12 International Academy, has been selected from a national audition pool of more than 1,000 to perform during the televised broadcast of the parade.

"She has been in rehearsals since Saturday, and she just met YouTube sensation Savannah Outen in Times Square, who will be singing on the Zhu-niverse float," mom Angela Manos wrote in an email to Canton-Sixes Patch.

Manos and other cast members from the award-winning Camp Broadway theater company will appear on the ZhuZhu Pets Zhu-niverse float and perform There’s No Place Like Here, a song featured in the straight to DVD movie Quest for Zhu

“Camp Broadway seems to be drawing more and more talented kids,” said artistic director Tony Parise, whose Broadway credits include Me and My Girl and 42nd Street. “The auditions this year were a pleasure because of that, but made it much more difficult to pick only 132 performers.”
